The Last week of Jesus’ Life

The Last week of Jesus’ Life,

from the sixth Sunday of Easter or Passion Sunday through to this coming Friday we commemorate the last week in Jesus’ life. Both the Catholic and Orthodox Churches, with the Anglo-Catholic church and some Protestant Churches refer to this period in the Church Year as Holy Week.

During this time our attention is focused on the sufferings endured by Jesus for us and how they led to his resurrection and our own rising to new life. We are also mindful that Jesus continues to suffer in the bodies of those who are victims of injustice, deprivation, of marginalization, isolation, betrayal and persecution.

Let us pray for them that they may also rise with Jesus and that we may help them to rise to new life.
