Confirmation and the R.C.I.A.

When a Parishioner makes an Adult commitment of faith they enter a process the Church calls the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults. Community of Christ Our Hope has held two such ceremonies in its 10 year history, the first in 2010.



  • Here is Margaret’s Confirmation and entry into membership of the Community of Christ our Hope when we were at our Riley street home.

The second RCIA programme took place here in our new home at Elizabeth Street in 2013 and followed a Celtic Liturgy. The Candidate was Ray.

  • Presentation of the Candidate – by Sponsor
  • Invitation to prayer
  • Litany of Celtic saints
  • Blessing of Water
  • Profession of Faith
  • Baptism
  • Anointing with oil of chrism
  • Putting on the white baptismal garment
  • Presentation of the lighted candle – presented by the sponsor
  • Prayer for the holy Spirit by the Bishop, Abbot or Prior.
  • Laying on of Hands
  • Anointing with Chrism
  • The New member of the Body of Christ is led to take his/her place in the congregation of the faithful
